A work in Progress

We are downsizing and selling Randy's car ! Its a Cadillac CTS 03' , it a great car !!

Julianne hard at work on her laptop April 2010

Trying to figure out how to use the mouse :)

Julianne started walking at the beginning of March. She took a few steps here and there, but then got down and crawled to where she needed to go. We would encourage her by holding her hand and helping her with her balance. Lately she has really caught on to walking, taking more and more steps on her own. Its fun to watch her learn to walk, she still is a little unsteady, her little legs are stiff and make wide steps, her arms are up helping her balance. More recently as of the middle of April, she is mainly walking!! Luckily the house isn't that big and the poor thing is encaged in the living room , but she can still get to the hallway and her room to explore.

Her personality is really starting to form, the other day when I was trying to get her away and out of the trash can, she kept getting into it, so I slapped her hand and said NO and she took her other hand and slapped my other hand and smiled. I was stunned , but didn't react. Discipline at this age is hard , because you don't know what they really understand, but then you think they need to learn at a very young age to correct the bad behavior. And they don't really know how to control their emotions or communicate what they want, so she is having more tantrums and crying spells, especially when tired or hungry! So it can become a struggle at times, but I try and compliment her when she does good things like putting the sippy cup in the cup holder and not throwing it, or putting the food she doesn't like to the corner of her tray, instead of dropping it on the floor. I know she will be testing us more and more and hopefully we will stay consistent and not give in to her. We went to a seminar for Parents on how to Help Kids Become Genuine Disciples and learned a lot of good information that will be most helpful as she is growing and becoming her own person. But it discussed how boundaries are enforced to help the child feel secure and how we need to model Christ , because we are the most influential persons in their lives and hope they will come to a personal faith with God. We really enjoyed the seminar and got a lot out of it, so hopefully that will show through in our child! :)

Maui II

My Parents!! The trip was planned after my mom told us that it has always been a dream of hers to take her family to Hawaii. So my sister Angela planned the trip and we were blessed to all be together in beautiful Hawaii!

My little hottie sis Dawn

My gorgeous big sis Angela and cool bro n law Josh

My little hula girl!! Thanks for the hula outfit Auntie A

Our family of three at the Luau

In Lahaina enjoying our fish tacos and fish &chips at KIMO's, with some old friends I grew up with (Rachel &hubby Dante and they are expecting in Sept. !) and my friend Danielle's mom Kathy C. and her friend Crystal and baby Brody ! KIMO's had a beautiful view of the ocean and saw some more whales. We were told it was mating season, so the males were trying to compete for the females attention, so we got to see alot of whale Action on the boat trip :)

Our Pina Colada's very tastee

The crew going out to snorkel! I got really close to a sea turtle , it popped its little head out of the water and just looked at me, it was pretty cool! And the fish were very colorful and so was the coral reef!

Maui I

Mom and I at Kamoale Beach

After a long day of whale watching and shopping in Lahaina , we came back to Kihei (were we stayed) and got some pita's to eat at the beach to watch another beautiful sunset!!

We got to go to a Luau, the Wailea Marriott had a great Luau with all you could eat food and drinks and the entertainment was pretty cool too, fire dancing and hula dancing (we got on stage and learned to hula (well we tried at least)

Our entertainment at the pool, who needs free mai tai wed. when you've got this girl!

This beach was by the Fairmont hotel and it was a nice beach and not so crowded! By the last beach day we were experts at getting all ready, packing every little thing for the baby, applying sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, lunches and beach equipment! We were loaded down!!

One of the many sunsets we saw in Maui! We always woke early(due to the time difference) so we tried to get out and see the sunrise too!

Flights to & from MAUI

Jules climbing all over the beach chair

It's rough being pushed around in my comfy seat

Playing with her new laptop

What's more peaceful then a sleeping baby

Our flight went about as expected. All of our connections were on time and no unexpected delays which was wonderful, we waited in a long line to take off at PHL. but it wasn't too bad. Our main concern that day was Jules and how to keep her occupied. She did pretty good - slept the whole way to PHL. The PHX flight was long , but fortunately the guy in the window seat helped entertain Jules, he has a traveling "buddy" (little rub toy- that's eyes pop out when you squeeze him) so he showed it to her and talked to her , which was nice to get a break. She slept maybe 45 min on our 4 hr 45 min flight. But we walked the aisles and she enjoyed looking at all the people. Our Maui flight was VERY long and our patience were running thin, but thankfully we had an open middle seat, since I asked the guy if he could sit in an open seat because that plane wasn't suppose to be full , he gladly agreed! So Jules had her own seat and we got her new laptop to play with and watched some baby videos on the laptop. She did great and loved climbing all over the seats and walking down the aisles again. We had a women in front of us (we call her girlfriend, because she kept calling Jules that) who talked to Jules and made noises, faces, etc to keep her entertained. But the last 2 hrs of our 6hrs 30min flight she had a breakdown and started crying really loud and we couldn't get her to stop, tried everything and she was not happy, so Randy walked her down the aisle and the flight attendants offered her some shortbread cookie, which she sorta calmed down, so I was relieved and so were the other mothers on the plane!! She was overtired, hot and hungry!! They stood at the back of the plane for a bit to cool off and feed Jules her cookie, a much needed break for me!! And then we arrived to MAUI and the LONG flight was worth it!!!
And the way back home was VERY tiring, since Maui time was 6 hours difference, we tried to sleep on the plane, and we did get some sleep in but with some interruptions. But it was good to get the long flight over with first. The flight to PHL. was uneventful Jules slept some and played at our feet when she would get restless or we would walk the aisles with her! Then we got stuck in PHL from 3-7:30, because of weather! I was so glad we had the stroller so she could sleep in the stroller and we could rest our arms!! We made it home at ~9pm. It was a LONG day overall but we are so thankfully we got to go and spend time with family!!

7:02 pm on March 13, 2009 she arrived in this world, (8 lb 8 oz. and 19.5 in) what a long day it was and the best day. Truly a miracle, SHE was our BIG surprise , a healthy baby GIRL Julianne Lynne !!

Where did the time go, I can't believe she is 1 years old (20lbs and 29in). She has lots of personality and doesn't meet a stranger , always friendly to everybody. She is a very happy baby and we feel very blessed and hope she stays that way through the toddler years. Julianne is a world traveler, she has flown to Kansas City twice, Florida, California, Hawaii, with layovers in Philly, Charlotte, Phoenix, and driven to Nebraska, so she has been to Missouri and Iowa and Delaware. We have loved watching her grow and change ! She has taught us how so much about love and patience. I am excited to see how she will change these coming years- but not too fast please!!

My Pal Violet

Julianne loves her Pal Violet. She lights up whenever she sees Violet or hears her sing. Violet was a Christmas gift from Aunt Angela and Uncle Josh. Julianne has figured out how to push the paws to make Violet sing and talk. We know when Julianne is up from her nap or in the morning, when we can hear Violet talking. Violet is programmed to say Julianne's favorite color (pink), favorite animal (dog), and favorite food (bananas). She also tells Julianne she loves her and spells her name and many other things. They are great pals and thanks aunt A and Uncle J!!
