Happy Valentine's Day, Kinda!

We woke up to quite a surprise on Valentine's morning;SNOW! We heard it was going to snow a little over night but as the always say here "no accumulation", but they were wrong. We had a few inches of snow and went for a nice long Winter/Valentine's day walk. We saw some pretty things and enjoyed spending the morning together before we headed off to work.

We made reservations for dinner at 7 pm at Vinny's La Roma just around the block from our house for the big night! We didn't get too dressed up but cleaned up well for our big date! We arrived right on time and were seated right away. The hostess put one menu down between us. We are both pretty frugle but Jamie is a league above me. The Menu was for Valentine's Day only and had a few selections that looked pretty good. Jamie looked at the price immediately $79.99 per couple. WOW! We planned on spending 50-60 bucks including tip tops! We need an exit plan so we came up with an excuse that I recieved a call and we needed to leave. Another couple followed our lead, thier excuse wasn't as good as ours though! They said they were in a hurry, LAME!

We got in the car and headed south as we talked about our next move. We thought of a few different places, made some calls and figured out that we would almost have to wait until 9 o'clock to eat if we went anywhere to popular. (We talked about our experience one V-Day at the Outback when we didn't eat until around 11pm, didn't want that again!) We landed on Unos Chicago Grill and only had to wait 30 minutes and we though that was pretty good! Our waiter was a little bizarre but he was competent enough to get Jamie's water with lemon and my Iced Tea no lemon within a few minutes. We figured we would order one of our favorite appetizers since it was a special occasion the Shrimp and Crab Fondue. He came back a few minutes later to get our order. I ordered a steak and Jamie ordered a chicken pasta dish. After a half an hour and now Fondue he showed up with my salad and an excuse, blaming the kitchen for the fondue's absence. We finally got it and it was pretty good. The guy would go away for sereral minutes on end and we could tell the other couple near us was getting as frustrated with thier experience as we were. Our meals finally came out and Jamie's was good but mine was bleeding, it even mooed once. I like it medium-well and this steak looked like they gutted it, cooked the outside and stuffed the inside back in after the outside was brown. I have a policy after working in a restraunt, seeing the movie Waiting and hearing horror stories never to send back a meal to the kitchen. So we got a box and I will finish cooking my meal at a later date! We got our check and got out (by the way the "10 ounce steak appeared to be no more than 7 ounces and it was a $19 STEAK!!).

We made it home watched Father of the Bride and checked in for the night. We live in the heart of Salisbury University off campus housing and have had very few disruptions believe it or not but V-Day 2008 was a little different! Our neighbors decided to have a party. The party wasn't too bad, it was the people coming and going that were loud and woke us up a bunch of times. Our house is on a corner and about 10 inches from the street!
It was a little ironic that before we left for the evening I read Chris and Mindy's (brother and sister in-law) blog on how miserable thier V-Day was. I thought wow, Jamie and I have it made: no sick, crying kids that need diaper changes, and constant attention. I thought we get to go out and have great evening, just the two of us! WRONG! Oh well at least its Friday!! Hope everone is well and your Valentine's Day wasn't as bad as ours.

Let's Get You Caught Up!!

Well, it has been a while since we posted but a few cool things have been happening in our lives the last few weeks! Randy's parents have returned from visiting their other son Chris and his family in Germany. Baby Will is a few weeks old now, Luke is a year and a half, and Mindy is happy to no longer be pregnant! We had a lot of fun Dog and House watching while they were gone! We enjoyed the walks with both Riley and Kailee. It was tough for Judy and Steve to leave but we know they are happy to be home. We picked them up yesterday from the airport and they are busy trying to catch up on sleep, trying to get back on Eastern Standard time.

Randy made his national Television debut this past weekend as well. It was a proud moment of course. He was a groomsman in a televised wedding. Not just any wedding, a REDNECK WEDDING!! Two listeners of the Country station he works for (Froggy 99.9) were getting married and needed help to pull it off. Country Music Television (CMT) has a show called My Big Red Neck Wedding and selected Gail and John to have their marrige featured. The wedding was in mid-December and held at a Flea Market/Gas Station/Restraunt/Bar. Yeah, real classy venue! Anyway for helping pull of the wedding Randy and his co-workers Mike and April were asked to be in it. The groomsman wore bright green John Deere T-Shirts and nuses around thier neck as ties. The ladies wore bright Orange T-Shits with picures of Dogs on them.

A lot was cut from the actual show, since they record several hundred hours of footage for a half hour program. Randy was in the background for the parts featuring the ceremony but did have his moment in the sun when the Bride and Groom went on the mechanical bull. We will leave that a mystery and we hope you all can catch the re-runs on CMT. It was a neat experience and made our wedding look awesome! You should watch it if you can, these folks are truly redneck and it is a pretty funny episode.

We have enjoyed 2008 so far and are having fun hanging out with friends and family. The baseball season starts April 3rd but Randy is only doing homegames this season and won't travel. We will try our best to get along!!

We were so Happy the Giants won the Super Bowl too!! 18-1, YES!!! Sorry TOM!!
