A Kansas Girl with an Eastern Shore Dish

It's no secret that making the adjustment from the Midwest to the east coast has been no "Piece of Cake" for our Kansas Sunflower but we may have reached a milestone this past weekend. Jamie decided to put on the apron and try the most popular Maryland-eastern shore dish. No it wasn't Scrapple (Google it our Midwest friends), Fried Chicken, Crab cakes or any other delicious dinner treat. She may have conquered the granddaddy of them all when it comes to dessert a Smith Island Cake! Now this is one of the most time consuming, incredibly yummy desserts in history. Think of this, eight layers of yellow cake with chocolate and peanut butter in between! We had a great reviews, thanks Dad Steve, Aunt Marge and Uncle Joe and Randy's friend Bill. It was perfection!!

I don't think it is the healthiest snack but certainly worth the calories!!! I see a new posibility in the works: Kansas Kakes by Jamie!! Too bad this would blow Kansas' mind!!!!

It looks GREAT! Awesome work Jamie! I think Kansas Kakes is a fun idea =) - pretty soon you'd be a household name just like Little Debbie. =)

Hope you guys have a great day! Wish we could enjoy your cake here...yummy!

Wow, what a cake. 2 bites could do me in. Thought it rather funny about the comment referring to "Little Debbie". Some of you may know that was my old name sometimes used by my college roommate. Randy did you help with this task? Maybe you can make this cake in Kansas sometime.
